The Legislative Analyst's Office has just released its overview of the 2009-10 state budget May Revision. On page 18, it suggests that the Legislature veto the SEIU contract and add a third furlough day each month:
The Legislature could direct the administration to score budgetary savings if it chooses not to approve the labor agreements proposed by the Governor with the state employee units . . .

No wonder the SEIU was inn such a hurry to get this contract ratified before the election.

The gang in Sacramento are about as likely to shaft their paymasters at the SEIU as they are to grow brains.

Anna Burger "Queen of Labor" is the Secretary-Treasurer of Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and Chair of the Change to Win Federation. In February, 2009, Burger was appointed as a member to the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board to provide the president and his administration with advice and counsel in fixing America's economic downturn[1]. In her tenure at SEIU, Burger has worked with President Andy Stern to create the largest and fastest growing union in North America. Burger and SEIU are working to create ties with unions in other parts of the world, especially Europe and Asia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Burger

Don’t stop with the SEIU. Cut the salaries of the other union employees while they are at it such as the prison guards. I would also cut workers compensation a minimum of 10%. I would also look into cutting entitlements.

Cut off ALL aid to illegals (medical, food stamps, welfare, education, etc). Get rig of the Coastal Commission and all the political commissions and boards. Cut the 90% high three union employee retirements and make them more in-line with the feds. Make the legislators part time. Cut back on welfare, medical and all entitlements. Make welfare recipients drug test, fail, no money. Cut insane environmental regulations. Privatize parts of cal trans, schools and any other state entity where its cheaper to privatize. This is a start.
