RE :” Everyone says they hate both parties and pretends to be above it all. No one is.

The best is when Levin and Hannity disclaim responsiblity for anything BAD Bush did (still claiming) saying “I am not a republican, I am a conservative”. Yet they both told us last Fall to go door to door to elect McCain. Last fall they were “Republicans first”, and every election before that too (in 2004 they didnt give a crap about Bush deficit spending or social spending, he was the hero) .

It's the “tax cuts cure all ills” and “tax cuts pay for themselves” narratives used in context with Bush record. Tax cuts have definite benefits but trying to defend those two simple messages have backfired.

Every single time taxes have been cut from JFK to Reagan to Bush the actual amount of money collected has increased and the economy has been stimulated. The problem is that the congress has simply ramped up spending even more. As far as your point about the slavish devotion to Dubya even when he was awful (amnesty, Harriet Miers, spending) and then backing McRino I agree.

“...yet they both told us last Fall to go door to door to elect McCain.”

I disliked McCain, and still do, but there were only two candidates from two parties running. In my posts, I encouraged Conservatives to vote for McCain, because I knew there would be SCOTUS openings. McCain would also have given the country an opportunity to veto the crap coming from Pelosi/Reid, and now there is no chance.

I don’t like partisanship either, and to that end, I am registered as an “Undeclared” in California. If the Republican Party chooses to become a party for conservative and libertarian minded folks, I would vote for their candidate, otherwise I would not belong to a party that didn’t represent my values.
