I went on one of these when I was in High School - just U.S. and Canadians at the time. I had all these naive ideas on getting things done, etc.

We spent the whole time (4 days or so?) arguing over the points of order, etc. (Who will sit where, who gets which microphone, etc.) We never got to any of the scheduled points. (One of which was the Palestinian State thingy - 30+ years ago!!)

We had to give a talk to the Rotary Club. I told them how disappointing it was, but that many of the leaders said “that's how it works at the real U.N. too”. I told the Rotary Club that with that kind of stupid stuff going on - it is no wonder nothing ever gets done.

Of course now, 30+ years later - Thank GOD there is all that bureaucratic stuff going on so the U.N. can't get anything done!

P.S. I was talking about all the stupid bureaucrats in Washington messing everything up and my one daughter asked “Are those drunk Democrats?” I said “Huh?” She replied “Beer-o-crats; is that a name for drunk Democrats?” ROFL!!!

I went to the UN for a third or fourth grade trip. I started to feel sick before we all were to leave. A guy and girl came up to me with a wheelchair; I would imagine now that the UN may have their own medical facilities on-site.

I guess I subconsciously knew that the UN was an evil, evil place.
