For a while now we've been mildly fascinated by Meghan McCain.
When she first popped up in the public consciousness through her "work" on her father's failed presidential campaign, there was something sort of endearing about her. We wanted to like her.
But as we've become more and more exposed to her with the passage of time we've come to find her, well, pretty grating, intolerably insufferable, the complete and total embodiment of everything wrong with a whiny-*ss generation of privilege that wants, no expects, everything to just fall right into their precious little laps without having to do sh*t to earn whatever it is they desire.
So Meghan's out there calling out in her Daily Beast column, painfully attempting to enter into the punditry, signing "high six figure" book deals, dropping F-bombs on Twitter, and acting like a diva at gala events, all on the back of her father's name.
So what's the deal with Meghan McCain? What is it that she's angling for here?
Does she truly hope to become a "voice" for a new generation of progressive Republicans, a genuine agent of change, or is she just another fame-whore high on life in the public eye.
Tonight she was on the Colbert Report droning on and on and on about how much the Republican party needs to change its stance on just about everything, from gay marriage to sex education to how it markets itself to younger voters, but then she turned around and talked about how totally AWESOME the Republican party is.
All in all McCain was, well, sort of likeable in that "oh you poor, confused little girl" sort of way, definitely stricken by a deeply-rooted identity crisis. And that's pretty much it.

Meghan McCain, demoing one big tent after another, to no net effect.

I prefer the term “attention whore.”
How about "disgusted", "revolted", "bored", "nauseated"...
"Meghan McCain" and "fascinated" do not belong in the same sentence together.
Its human. People tend to think the world needs more people like themselves. She thinks the problem with the GOP is that there aren’t enough people in it like Meghan McCain. Her dad thinks the problem is that there aren’t enough guys like himself.
I doubt she could explain what principles there are that bind us to one another as a party, or what principles make her want to be in the same party as the rest of us. I doubt she’s given it much thought. She’s a kid.
The media feeds her conceit because it suits them to prop up anyone who undercuts Republican principles, that is, classic republican principles. They did the same with her pa, and like a fish going after a lure he went for it. She’s got his same weakness for flattery, and his same inability to understand principle.
People need to start throwing pies at this chick everywhere she goes!
What else is she to do besides spending Momma’s money.
Come to think of it... her father is a “fame whore” too.
Stop reporting on her ans she will go away, at least from here.
yep, ego trip! just like daddy...
I kinda enjoy the pic of Heidi.
She has as much to do with politics as Paris Hilton does with running hotels.
It is a darn good thing McCain didn’t win. If you can’t convince your own child that what you stand for is right, then how do you lead a nation? Oh, wait, maybe he did convince her and she is just better at articulating his view than he is.
NO MORE RINOS!!
I give her 6 months before she pulls the ole Paris Hilton - Britany shot getting out of the car somewhere.
IOW, she’s for most anything that the rats stand for-now I wish she’d tell us why she’s a Republican and why the party should abandon long-established planks just to please her. No, sorry-actually I just wish she’d go away, maybe come back when she grows up, if she grows up.
The British aristocracy had a point when they kept their daughters upstairs in the nursery until it was time to “debut” them for the marriage market.
