That’s like the “steps” to which I was referring-like when parents made the young man visit the daughter at the home in view of the family, etc. The automobile, I think, put paid to that. That’s when “dating” away from the family rather than “courtship” in view of the family, with a serious and honorable end in mind, became the norm.
Exactly! I think more kids would appreciate that than let on, and many would be better off for it.
