Daimler grabs Tesla stake in electric-car push

German automotive giant Daimler has invested in electric-car company Tesla Motors and plans to use Tesla's battery packs in its Smart electric car due later this year.

At a Tuesday press conference held at the Daimler museum in Stuttgart, Germany, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Daimler management board member Thomas Weber said the contract between the two companies calls for joint collaboration on the Smart electric car and future models.

Any body interested in buying a stake in GM or Chrysler ? No ?

No they tried that Chrysler thing once and did not like it.

haha this is funny, diamler that usta own chrysler is buying tesla. which is a lotus body btw. and chrysler is/was making their own ev based off that same lotus body. dodge circut i think. but anyway there will be nothing rolling off the chrysler assembly lines in 2010

Daimler increased Chrysler’s quality ten-fold, but the UAW had already doomed the company.

no DBAG raped chrysler. their quality was pretty good pre-DBAG. the fit and finish of my 1997 intrepid was awesome. and I put 175,000 miles on and gave it to my sister she probably has it up to 185,000 now

You were lucky then. The Intrepid was by-and-large a POS, especially the four cylinder. The 300 series employed D-B engineering and it almost saved the company. Jeep was also doing fine until it watered down the line with the Patriot and that other little crackerbox. Also, doing away with the straight six demeaned the Wrangler.

i have an 09 patriot and I love it. tho the interior is no where near as nice, I didnt buy it to go mudding so its only a 4x2
