TWO VIDEOS: http://anchorsnews.com/2009/05/shock-parents-outraged-as-obama-cuts-scholarship-recipients-for-african-americans/

President Obama said that he would allow students currently enrolled in the program to finish up through high school, but that no new students would be allowed to enter the program. Thus, a president who exercises school choice himself, has consigned thousands of low-income students to attend massively underperforming D.C. public schools.

It seems so simple that I don’t understand why the majority of folks don’t see it.

From the people's side...I think it boils down to laziness. Many don't want to work hard to improve themselves, but they want everybody to be "equal"...so they bring the ones who *do* work hard and prosper down to their own level instead of lifting themselves up.

I homeschool as well. That goobmint money is YOURS! I am currently forced to support a school with MY tax dollars that I refuse to put my child into. I would appreciate it if the govt stayed out of schools completely, and allowed us to use our own money to educate our children as we see fit. Since that is a long way off, if even possible, the next best thing for us would be to get back the tax dollars we have paid into school systems, and allow that to be used to educate our children, whether we used it on curricula and did it ourselves, or placed them in a school that taught the things we value, instead of the things the govt values and we have to counter every day.

OK you wrote that better then I could. I tried to put my thoughts into words and it sounded stupid, you did it quite well.

My thought is I don't want gooberment money to educate my kids, because I don't want the gooberment telling me how to educate my kids. We enjoy living in the country and being left alone. I don't want some "Education Nazi" banging on my door to check on me, and the welfare of my children.
