In related good news the Army has announced that up to a battalion of heavy lift choppers (the number 87 was used in some news broadcasts) will be assigned to Ft Richardson and to FT Wainwright/Elilson AFB. Most of the large ranges are between Anchorage and Fairbanks.

The Army had earlier announced a new Stryker brigade at Ft Richardson. I think that is the one HI turned down.

So lots of new, (and employed) folks will be coming to Alaska in the near future.
