Palin camp eyed Clinton alliance
Politico ^ | May 18, 2009 | Jonathan Martin

In an unusual attempt to forge an alliance between two of the most prominent political families in American politics, John Coale, a Washington-area Democratic donor and onetime adviser to Sarah Palin, urged the conservative Alaska governor to use her political action committee to help retire the presidential campaign debt of Hillary Clinton.

Coale, a wealthy trial attorney and the husband of Fox News talk show host Greta Van Susteren, approached Palin with the improbable plan in February while in Alaska with his wife, who was taping an interview with the former Republican vice presidential nominee.

An outspoken Clinton supporter during the Democratic primary who switched his allegiance to the GOP ticket for the general election, Coale made his case to Palin at the Iron Dog snowmachine competition in Fairbanks, where Todd Palin was competing over Valentine’s Day weekend. His broader aim, say Palin camp insiders, was to help Palin develop a relationship with the former first family that he thought could bolster the polarizing governor’s standing with Democrats and independents.

Palin was amenable to getting acquainted with the Clintons but was skeptical of using her PAC to help the former first lady.

Funny when you read the article it would appear the “Palin Camp” sought no such alliance. They are doing everything they can to separate her from the base. They must be scared.

That’s exactly the way I read this article.

Why on earth would Sarah help pay the Red Queen’s campaign bills just so the Clintons could sit in their mansion in NY and count their coins and chuckle about how they and their ilk pulled a fast one on the Alaska Gov? Sarah is not stupid.

For one thing, it would be illegal to do what Politico suggests. Greta has denied this story, last week, when it first started surfacing. Politico is way behind the times, with this pack of lies.

Problem is, this article quotes Coale himself as broaching this idea of forming an alliance and saying the PAC scheme was part of "a larger plan". It also quotes an email from Meg Stapleton to Coale.

There may have been discussions about this that went nowhere. The broader question for me is that Politico is once again doing somebody's dirty work. The question is whose?

Greta seems quite taken with Palin or so I thought. Did her husband do this without her knowledge and consent or is she a party to this heinous act?

Greta blogged last week that somebody was snooping around but denied some grand scheme to pay off Hillary's debt. I believe that. I also believe John Coale probably had some political discussions with the Governor that might have involved a $5,000 donation to Hillary's PAC. Big deal.

The real question to me is what is Politico up to with these insinuations? To me, it looks like someone is mighty hot to sew seeds of doubt with Palin's base of support. JMO.

Greta's blog on this

Sarah didn’t take the bait..GOOD GIRL!! I did read a while ago about Bill Clinton calling Sarah after the election. That’s fine. I mean, he did say nice things about her during the election, he never badmouthed her, but after her for money LOL I thought the Clintons are rich, can’t they get money from their Democratic buddies or have they all abandoned them..WOW, the Clintons need a bailout..perhaps they should go to their buddy Obama and ask for a handout

Bill probably had some off shore drilling of his own in mind.

I don’t blame Coale for setting this up, makes sense from his end.

Politico is utter trash. The headline is so misleading it’s not even funny.

I don’t get how anyone thinks Bill and Hillary could help Sarah. If the Clintons still had any juice left in the party, Obama never would have won the nomination in the first place, and if they really wanted to help out, they could have done alot more to make sure he was still in the Senate right now. Their time is over.

Also, didn’t they report like 110 million last year. Doesn’t Bill make tons off speeches. How are they still having so much trouble paying off 2 million. Seems to me Bill and Hil could cover that themselves in a jiffy.

If anything, this could help her. She was tempted by the dark side. But unlike Anakin she resisted the Emperor, and stayed true to the force. She was taken to the summit and tempted, but she said no.

Good for her.

NASA eyed me for being its Director.

I sent them an email saying I should be the head of NASA, they said, “no”.

This was after Obeleman eyed me to be his agent.

The rest of the story here:

SarahPAC, Bipartisan Friendships, and Putting Alaska First

Looks like Rat Coale is trying to set himself up as some sort of power-broker using Governor Palin's coat-tails, with an agenda that involves the Clintons.
