Gee. From what I can tell, one only needs two qualifications to be a liberal Democrat:

1.) Cheat on your taxes

2.) Be a consumer of Child Pornography

Do those two things, and you will be a member in good standing, defended by the likes of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Nancy Pelosi.
