I was watching a special on the History Channel this weekend where Tom Hanks, of all people, was trying to sell the “meticulously researched” Dan Brown version of the Church v. the Illuminati. It screened like one giant plug for the movie.
We get it Brown - you hate Catholicism. Can’t wait for your next “meticulously researched” novel that distorts facts and steals sources.
I do like to watch some of the shows on the History Channel. Some are well done. However, I always remind myself that the History Channel is a VERY political cable channel.
Dan Brown’s writing style is atrociously poor.
That’s what bothers me about my non-catholic christian friends who love the books and movies...”it’s only fiction” they say.
And yet the author and Howard both claim they are historical novels - that the “history” presented is well researched and true.
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard christians say “I don’t really care that Jesus was married...”
They are always DaVinci fans.
And poor Leonardo must be rolling in his grave.
He sketched that painting first and labelled that figure as John.
He didn’t give him a beard because it was well accepted tradition that John was very young.
I can only hope that terrorists take this book as fact. Please, please, PLEASE waste all of your time and resources on an antimatter bomb!!! While antimatter-matter may release 10 orders of magnitude more energy than a conventional explosive, at least half of that energy is wasted as neutrinos and the other half is spread widely over the electromagnetic spectrum. A chemical explosive releases most of its energy along a much narrower (in comparison) range of spectra, meaning more directed energy. So, please bankrupt yourself developing antimatter weapons, when a truck full of TNT would do you just as good...
