Heads Up, CA! Editorial: Vote 'No' on All Six State Propositions
orange county register ^ | staff

Posted on 05/18/2009 5:29:51 AM PDT by kellynla

The spendthrift governor and Legislature over-taxed and over-spent California state government into its current predicament. They put government employees first and taxpayers second. They routinely overestimated future revenue while consistently mismanaging the cash on hand. Their fiscal appetites regularly were greater than what they could afford, and they put off solving their financial problems by borrowing more and more, and shifting money around to pay for things taxpayers didn't intend that money to be spent on.

This should tell voters everything they need to know about Propositions 1A-1F on Tuesday's special election ballot. The same people who created this mess with their disingenuous, irresponsible taxing and spending now claim to have concocted a remedy – if voters will just say "Yes" to the propositions to authorize more taxing and spending.

We urge voters to say "No" Tuesday to all six propositions.

“I prefer dealing with good, kindly, and friendly people who aren’t impressed with their own self-importance.”

That’s RICH coming from Little Ms. “Frankly, I’d be glad to see California drop into the ocean, the sooner the better.”

Class Dismissed!

The San Jose Mercury had a different position and argues that you are only hurting yourself by voting NO on these scams.

I will be voting NO. Not that it matters, I always vote NO for anything that requires spending money on BS like this and the financing of Stem Cell research.

No, they’re just going to solve it by taking money from the people who didn’t create the mess. Their sights are set on ‘borrowing’ tax revenue from the cities.

Why would you vote YES on 1F? Isn’t that the one that allow’s pay raises for legislators, even when there’s a DEFICIT?

One thing to wish illonois politicans to be rounded up and jailed, (Assuming all are bad) however you wishing california to drop off into the ocean is a disservice to californians that are conservative. yes there are a lot of us, not a majority, but still a lot.

how about i say I hope the united states is annilated, becuase the majority of Amertican voted for obama, the baby killing, budget busting, illegal kenyan?????

give teh conservatives in california some credit, we are surviviors in a hostile land. (much of it no thanks to the FEDERAL government for refusing its duty to defend the nations boarders. Yes, almost teh entire california budget defict would be come if we did not have to support illegals here. true, california judges did overturn a voter approved law to stop paying illegals, stop health care, schhols, welfare, etc.... to them. so we have to deal with them nasty liberal california judges overturning voters wishes.

however if the *&%$ing federal government (including Senior jorge bush) had enforced teh national boarders we woudl not have them stupid illegals here in the first place.

the federal government (ie all America) has dumped many probelms on california, the federal government could stop californias huge abortion rate, anti- 2nd admendment gun laws, stop the EPA from enforcing un financed mandates on us, and kick teh illegals out. california is not perfect, we got our own probelms, but we are stuck with federal probelms.
hell maybe I shoudl wish michigan to fall into the the great lakes, after all I am bailing out some failed detroit auto companies.

dont wish california to fal into teh ociean, we got lots of good folks here, and trust me, teh federal government makes our life as much a hell as the state. the federal government takes more my money, and does more harm to me than my crappy state.

wishing for a whole state to drwon is not very nice. almost hitleresque

You read too fast. The chart says NO on 1F.

I not from California and I don’t want the California Soviet to drop into the ocean because you guys are just wonderful at exporting what is left of your upper middle class to states like North Carolina. Come on now, raise those taxes on the evil rich...and ...welcome to Chapel Hill, NC.

The legislature in CA is a sham. The judges rule the state for the party apparat. Doesn’t matter a hill of beans. The judges will order tax increase for the benefit of the “children” meaning union members and legislators who act like children.

According to my voter information packet, a YES vote would prevent pay raises during a deficit year. I will vote No on 1A-1E, and Yes on 1F, unless someone here can convince me otherwise.

No, no, no, no, no, no.

"These phony solutions for overspending and over-taxing written by legislators with a long history of over-spending and over-taxing would worsen, not improve, California's fiscal condition."

They put government employees first and taxpayers second.

That about sums it up.

I voted absentee, NO on all except 1F...

I (think I) voted to stop pay raises in deficit years.

Now, that’d be the FIRST real incentive in years for a legislator to have a balanced budget.

Then it would just depend on how much “gifting” they were getting form special interests. But getting raises while spending the state in to the ground is absurd.

I sure hope I read the proposition correctly. LOL.
