Hard quake shakes
This one really rocked my house. It was similar in strength to the Whittier Narrows quake that hit us in the 90’s.
Hmmm, most interesting, seeing you are much further from the epi than I am.
Having trouble remembering Whittier Narrows here, maybe was too far east for me?? Northridge was by far the biggest ever I felt, very strong in Santa Monica where I lived at the time. I was not living in SoCal at the time of the ‘71 Sylmar quake.
Thanks for the earthquake ins. info, this explains it well. I’d forgotten it was a state program.

That figures, it’s like the hurricane damages, was it wind or water? I’m glad this one was not so bad, damage wise.
I did realize that I badmouthed all my animals last night for not giving notice that the shaker was coming, but later realized that the dog had uncharacteristically stuck to me like glue all yesterday (am recovering from several surgeries). She returned to continue her vigil all night, so I take back that the dog was lazy, but the cats did nothing to give warning. Dog: 1 Cats:0
I happened to be driving through the Whittier Narrows on Rosemead Bl. (Lakewood Bl.) when that quake hit, I think between 7:30 and 8 a.m.. I saw the cars in front of me bouncing, their tail lights waving up and down, and I thought the road must be under construction. Of course I then realized that I was bouncing, too, and it was a very weird feeling.
