I remember him telling over and over the tales of that big quake.

If your family has been in Southern California as long as mine, you probably have a few quake stories of your own. I certainly have mine.

The Whittier Narrows quake did a lot of damage to my grandparent's house in South Pasadena. We had been trying to move them out of the house and into a retirement apartment but Grandma was resisting. But that quake cracked plaster all over the house and the brick fireplace ripped away from the wall. After that Grandma was happy to move.

OH yes redheadtoo!! I have many stories! I am 67 and lived in Highland Park in the 40’s...I remember well the Tehachapi, Sylmar, Whittier Narrows. We have lived in Eagle Rock since late 50’s In the Northridge quake we lost our fireplace, part of our porch and waterpipes .We have a two story home and we can really feel the swaying upstairs.Things have quieted down so manybe we can rest now....hopefully.
