So we are a bankrupt country with a shrinking agricultural base, virtually no means of manufacturing production, and an economy primarily based on financial instruments...

What could go wrong?

- Our agricultural base is plenty big enough to feed this country -- provided we have oil.
- We could set up manufacturing production in any field you like to mention quite quickly if we have to -- and that includes drilling and processing oil.
- We have a population with many entrepreneurs, engineers, and general get-'er-done people.

There would be temporary dislocations, but in the long run we would be fine, except perhaps inside the major cities.
