Ahmadinejad Can Speak on a US Campus, But Netanyahu Cannot

Imagine it's 1940, and picture Adolf Hitler speaking at a US university, receiving a polite reception, while Winston Churchill is barred from speaking because his safety cannot be guaranteed.

It's unthinkable, yet the very same pro-fascist dynamic is a reality in 21st Century America.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu comes to America knowing he is a second-class citizen who is denied the free-speech rights enjoyed even by prominent jihadists, having been violently prevented from speaking on campuses in the US and Canada in recent years.

Protestors at Berkeley, the campus once synonymous with the term "free speech," forced the cancellation of Netanyahu's speech there, as well as two subsequent speeches, in November 2000. The Jewish Bulletin of Northern California reported:

Hundreds of protesters shouting "Support the Palestinians, choose a side" and "No free speech for war criminals" blocked the gate leading to the Berkeley Community Theatre Tuesday evening, forcing the cancellation of a scheduled speech by former Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Additional talks by Netanyahu that were scheduled Wednesday and Thursday in San Mateo and San Rafael were subsequently cancelled.

Waving banners reading "Zionism=Nazism" and "End U.S. aid to Israel," the crowd was estimated at more than 500 by the Berkeley Police Department and at 200 to 250 by observers...

The vitriol that greeted Netanyahu at Berkeley only worsened in the ensuing years.

But that's not what sets bombs flying, is it?

The sad fact is, Israel cannot even deal with its problems next door. They are not going to venture far afield to start trouble with Iran.

The "emerging Palestinian state," let us call it, is now a matter of when, not if. Israel's enemies no longer feel the need to make concessions or soften their demands. Israel did not move against Iran during the Bush years, and the Israeli position has now worsened along with the alliance with the US.

It's obvious. Israel is not going to attack anything. It's going to continue to temporize, to stall, to tolerate its enemies chewing on its moribund body.

Iran (or any other muslim gang) could launch a fullblown war on Israel today, and America would not lift a finger to assist Israel; the UN would blame the victim within hours.

As for Netanyahu, he could be a Churchill here, but where would Churchill have been without the support of the USA? At the end of a noose, that's where.

He's no Churchill. Israel is not as much as Britain. Its enemies are many more than Germany. And we are not what we once were.

You're absolutely right. This lie has been repeated so many times over the decades that just about everyone believes it.

I mean, if the Communists were on the Left & the Nazis were on the Right, then where do those of us who believe in God-given rights, individual liberty, & limited, minimal government belong?

The lesson the Leftists and the Islamists are teaching is a simple one: Violence Works.

These people are so short-sighted that they don't realize that they can't keep a monopoly on violence. Bill Ayres calls the cops on a Fox News reporter. What are the Lefties going to do, when ACORN gets fire-bombed? What are they going to do, when their speakers get roughed up and shouted down? What are the Muslims going to do, when their Mosques are bombed?

People have to think beyond the next step. Wow, it's cool, we shouted down Tom Tancredo. Will it be so cool when Ward Churchill is prevented from speaking?
