It’s getting so that ‘code’ introduced as ‘advertisement content’ is out-of-control. It can hog 50 to 100 megabytes of memory and who knows what can be going on invisibly with the user’s consent.

Java-script and Java itself is getting all powerful and resource hogs.

There has to be software coming out that can throttle down this crud.

You can use “Hostal” (for the Macintosh), too...

It’s a little program that makes it easy for you to handle and manipulate a “hosts” file on your computer... (and this will block web addresses and sites and ads and so on...).

That’s for Macintosh users — but the same thing (a Hosts file) applies to Windows users, too. The key here is to get a good and large list of blocked ad sites and put that into effect on the Hosts file and redirect them all to 127.0.0.1 ... LOL...

And, of course, Firefox has a nice ad blocking feature, too...
