Gingrich: Pelosi 'Lied,' 'Despicable,' 'Dishonest,' 'Vicious,' 'Trivial'
ABC ^ | May 15, 2009 | Elizabeth Turrell and Steven Portnoy

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today offered a blistering critique of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s handling of oversight on harsh interrogation tactics, in a major escalation of partisan attacks being aimed at Pelosi.

In an interview with ABC News Radio’s Marcus Wilson, Gingrich, R-Ga., said Pelosi, D-Calif., “has lied to the House” in claiming that she was never briefed by the CIA about the Bush administration’s use of waterboarding and other harsh tactics.

"I think she has lied to the House, and I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don't think the Speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters,” Gingrich said.

He continued: "I think this is the most despicable, dishonest and vicious political effort I've seen in my lifetime."

"She is a trivial politician, viciously using partisanship for the narrowist of purposes, and she dishonors the Congress by her behavior."

"Speaker Pelosi's the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses,” Gingrich said. “The fact is she either didn't do her job, or she did do her job and she's now afraid to tell the truth.”

“Is Newt so mad that he won’t make a global warming commercial with her again?”

Excellent point!

“Let’s hope Newt is serious about throwing his hat in the ring for 2012.”

Personally, I would like to see a Viet Nam war combat veteran elected POTUS.

Sorry, but when he hopped on the GlobalHoaxWarming bandwagon, he lost any support I might have given him.

I don't care if he is a divorcee, I care that the man can lead. And if he is willing to swollow that drek, bah!

Now as chief of staff, or SecState... sure.

-—”I would like to know why a Pelosi “aide” would be getting CIA briefings. Do they have such high security clearances that they can have that information.”

Well, for that matter, why is Obutthole getting security briefings - he’s not even a natural-born citizen, a usurper of the office of the POTUS, and an admitted cocaine/pot user

Under normal circumstances for most earthly individuals, those attributes are grounds for refusal of a security clearance.

Lets not paint every Viet Nam war combat veteran with the likes of McCain...there are hundreds of thousands of true blue CONSERVATIVE Viet Nam war combat veterans like me who are more than qualified to be the next POTUS, thank you.

totally impresses with your ‘neuron alignment’!! It is great to read the product of an intelligence such as yours and I am one of those who think the Biblical emphasis on perseverance is keeping my hope alive in these times of un and anti USA types in Washington D.C.

I am glad someone on the right is voicing strong words in the fight. It seems that many in the Republican Party leadership have decided that a further move to the left, mild words and actions, and turning up their noses at regular Americans are the right strategy and tactics for the party’s future. They are wrong. They do not appreciate the intensity, money and hatred of their opposition. They do not appreciate the force behind their foe nor do they appreciate Americans’ need to have a strong opposition to the socialists.

Thanks!

Purely as a practical matter, I just find it’s nearly impossible to have single-topic discussions with people on...just about anything. Many things we discuss here on FR contribute to that: The dumbing down of our edu system; the rapid pace of life; the need of allegedly informative media to incorporate an MTV-style flash-flash “bitrate”; the ever-increasing phantasm of feature-films. And there’s also the need for the drug addict to get a stronger and stronger dose as time goes on to get the same “bump”. We have more and more outrageous comics walking ever closer to and in many cases stepping over existing bounds of decency. I’ll confess that some of them are funny (to me), but (almost) NEVER have these comics/actors been brought out as spokespeople for anything of seriousness. Yes, they have sold (or decried) cigarets, they have spoken out for animal rights, gun rights, children in Africa, and blah blah, but they have NEVER been considered qualified discussers of national security. And I haven’t even mentioned this propensity of the left to constantly redefine words; which flips me out and I consider very insidious. It’s done by ridiculing fixed word definitions: If you think “marriage” is between a man and a woman, you’re a bigoted relic of the past. If you think “investment” is a form of educated gamble where you’re supposed to get a gain on AND RECEIVE BACK your investment; you’re just not a forward thinking individual.

Point being, it’s difficult to have discussions with folks these days without a preliminary session where you agree on word definitions. Many, many times, people ask me what appear to be serious questions about what I know about = investing & stocks, and before I answer them, I ask them if they will agree to at least 45 seconds of uninterrupted speaking time before they interrupt and jump in with irrelevancies like “what about Madoff” or “except for Citigroup”. And I can tell, some consider that arrogant. But I know to lower my transmission success expectations drastically if they’re unwilling. I won’t care if they “get it”.

And when you combine the type of bursting-at-the-seams ignorance of some of the folks seen street-interviewed on Leno, Hannity et al, with the cursed inability to have topic coherency and word-definition coherency and greater-then-11-second attention span, the cause seems utterly hopeless. To me. Consider: is this not the modern version of the Tower of Babel story? Our so-called common purpose of getting along is being defeated not by having the obviously different languages of German, English, Swahili, Urdu, etc;? We don’t need that any more. We now have sufficient confusion of meaning entirely within the English language to guarantee that people will misunderstand and unconsciously offend each other.

I can’t believe I ended up with a Biblical reference/context for you!! Trust me, I didn’t start this post with that intention at all.

My husband/hero has a website: lawopenforum.com and has been working in the vineyards for many years to fight judicial corruption. Let me know if you chance to have time to visit!

speaking of investments, one of my main sources if Jim Sinclair at jsmineset.com for news and perspective as after 50 years of market watching as both stockholder and broker, but long retired, I became a ‘goldbug’ about five years ago. I have no faith in our political or financial ‘leaders’ and have sadly not had so for many months. Most of these ‘successful’ people are what my grandparents would term criminal, as do I.

Barf! Seriously you want a serial divorcee to be President? No Way!!!!!! Sarah or practically anyone is better than Newt. I suppose if you think the President is just a figurehead then Sarah would be better than Newt. However, that is not the case.
This is just the sort of trivial shallowthink that leads America to elect people like 0bama, to follow reality TV over the news.

0bama has never been divorced. 0bama loves his wife and has two adorable children. I guess he's a good president by your standards then. No need to elect someone else...

All the ‘nation’ has to do is summon some anger and she’s headed out the 300th floor window faster than Mace Windu riding a bolt from one of the emperor’s hands.
