What’s the deal with lying about your service to your country? A while back, I was on a camping trip and one of the guys thought I had served in the Gulf War (I had not, but served in the National Guard later on). I took great pains to let him know I wasn’t over there. How hard is it for people to not lie about their service?

I figure that when you take that oath you never know how it’s going to turn out. All by itself, it takes a decent amount of courage to enlist. Thank you for your service.

Gives 'em added credibility. Good for all sorts of things, like becoming a protester, a politician, a news source for CNN, and for picking up hot chicks.
