These are "accidental" Catholics, baptized as infants but never truly catechized in the faith by their parents. More adult education is needed, especially for parents. Until then, we educate them one at a time, assuming they show up for Mass.
Hopefully, the protesters will make as much noise as possible and pull off some creative stunts to get on the news.
