Pelosi's Quagmire
The Weekly Standard ^ | May 13, 2009 | Michael Goldfarb

Posted on 05/14/2009 3:21:37 AM PDT by Scanian

Republicans in the House are keeping up the pressure on Pelosi by pushing for answers about what she knew and when she knew it, emailing this report from Rick Klein (whose made it his job to jam up Pelosi on her continued backpedaling):

Pelosi told reporters today that she won’t answer questions on the matter until her weekly press conference tomorrow -- keeping the story alive for a full week after ABC News first reported on the intelligence report....

As we wait for answers, Pelosi has found relatively few allies among her fellow Democrats. Pressed by reporters yesterday, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., allowed that “what was said and when it was said, who said it” should be part of a congressional inquiry -- though his aides later explained that he was not referring specifically to Pelosi.

Some Democrats may even be making things more difficult for the speaker. Senate Intelligence Chairman Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., told AFP: “I don't want to make an apology for anybody, but in 2002, it wasn't 2006, 07, 08 or 09. It was right after 9/11, and there were in fact discussions about a second wave of attacks.”

The irresistable logic of our betters.

Some Democrats may even be making things more difficult for the speaker.

That famous philosopher Ozzy Osbourne once said, "Be careful who you f*** on the way up the ladder because they will surely f*** you on the way down."

Ozzy may only have a dozen brain cells left but he got that right... What role do you think Hillary is playing in this?

None. I think Hillary's happy where she is, out trotting around the globe playing big shot, pretty much independent from Obama.

No, Pelosi has made so many enemies over the years in her own congressional caucus because of her lies, stupidity, and arrogance that the knives are slipping out of their sheaves now that she has given them an opening with which to finally strike.

Most Dems, especially the Blue Dogs have been waiting for an opportunity to get rid of this moron. Watch and get the pop corn as this drama unravels. I estimate, with 90 days, Pelosi will step down.

"I estimate, with 90 days, Pelosi will step down. "

From your lips to God's ears . . . now if she'd just take the Kenyan with her and go to the devil, we could get started re-building this nation.

Republicans are being duped and taking the bait. By calling for Pelosi’s head they are making the Dem’s argument against Bush, Cheney, Rove, et al.

Obama will gladly throw Pelosi over the side if it creates political cover to go after the big prizes.

She looks better in that picture.

I think it is just the opposite. Democrats are now making the case for Republicans.

The more Democrats start talking like that, the less likely any hearings will be held.

"" Mrs. Pelosi also claimed that the CIA "did not tell us they were using that, flat out. And any, any contention to the contrary is simply not true." She had earlier said on TV, "I can say flat-out, they never told us that these enhanced interrogations were being used."

Flat-out? Is that some new sophisticated political-speak term used by the elites in Washington?

On Sept. 4, 2002, less than a year after 9/11, the CIA briefed Rep. Porter Goss, then House Intelligence Committee chairman, and Mrs. Pelosi, then the committee’s ranking Democrat, on EITs including water boarding. They were the first members of Congress to be informed.

So, who was the director of the CIA, from 9/11 to 2004?

George J. Tenet was the Director of CIA, from 1997–2004 .

Tenet was appointed by President Clinton and approved by Congress. Tenet then became the CIA director in August of 1997.

So, Pelosi is now saying that George Tenet lied to her or ordered his congressional briefers to lie to Nancy.
