Rockstar energy drink founder and CEO Russell Weiner - son of Michael Weiner, aka Bay Area-based, nationally broadcast conservative talk radio talk host Michael Savage - on Monday made a $25,000 contribution to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's 2010 gubernatorial campaign.
Yes, the son of Michael Savage, who just last October was saying Newsom is "in love again with the gay mafia" and "a whack-job as a mayor - 'Any-twosome' Newsom." Y’know, Savage — the guy the Brits don’t care to have around.
Is this a case of the apple falling far from the tree? It's not as if the junior Weiner has been some raging liberal: He ran for the state Assembly in 1998 as a Republican, touting the fact that he with his dad had founded the conservative Paul Revere Society (later stripped of its nonprofit status, and now redirecting Web browsers directly to Savage's site.)
So what's the deal?
"We're personal friends, went to the same high school at different times,” Weiner told me a short while ago. “And he's a businessman, I'm a businessman, so I hope he'll be good for the business community if he's governor."
Maybe YOU don’t care for anything Savage but you don’t speak for the rest of FR or the world...

Don’t like Savage but have no opinion on his genuineness. Campaign contributions often go across ideological lines. Look at Ben Stein supporting Al Franken!

LOL! It's not a mystery to me, it's been going on for years, there are some Freepers obsessed with hating Savage because he attacked their precious Bush before attacking Bush on FR became in vogue, Savage also attacks Rush and Hannity with abandon, and that doesn't sit well with a lot of Freeps, and that's why Levin attacks Savage so viciously IMO.
Savage is not a GOP water carrier like Rush and Hannity, thus he is not the team player others want him to be, so they attack him but their attacks usually amount to childish name-calling along with as you can see childish graphics, lies, smears, that out-rivals anything you would find about Savage on DU.
Their hatred for Savage knows no bounds, as you can see, they now are pulling Savage's family into this, using his son as proof that Savage is no conservative. Pretty soon they'll be attacking his wife too using whatever dirt the libs dig up about the Savage family to do it with.
They seem to forget that a Savage thread would not be allowed on the moonbat DU site but is allowed on a premier conservative site like FR, but then you know obsessive hatred tends to make people, even so called conservatives, lose all perspective on things.
Just calling Wiener by his name gets their thin skinned panties in a twist...which was more than enough to make a point.
