Swing voters whom I talked to voted non-Bush ... ie. change. McCain was more of the same, in their opinion.

FWIW

The reality is that half the population has no investment in this country. They vote for “free stuff.” After all, they’re not paying the taxes...
And nobody beats the Democrats for fronting “free stuff” to their constituents. I thought the ‘Pubbies had taken the crown as big spenders, until Obama’s Democrat Fantasy Spending (aka “Stimulus Package”) bill was rammed down our throats.

They will eventually find out how badly they’ve screwed up, but it might be too late.

I find a lot of similarity to how it was back in the ‘60’s. Wars tend to radicalize young ‘uns. I remember news coverage of college kids in ‘67 saying that the average kid in college was saying things that he could be hit for just a year or two. By ‘68 we had a solid youth revolt. But by ‘76 the kids were voting for Ford and then Reagan in the ‘80’s.

The same thing is happening now. Just Few years ago. PC commencement speakers were being booed down for their BS. Now they are not. The kids have become more liberal like they did in ‘68. I hope we end up with the same result.

That message (more of the same) was a cornerstone of the Obama campaign. It worked, because it was true - McCain would have been more of the same. However, what our deluded electorate embraced instead was something completely different. Evil....but different. But, they are so deluded that they can’t see the evil.

Yes, the libs own the majority via largess. And that will just continue to get worse under this administration.

While you’re correct about youth, I don’t believe we’re simply “in a cycle.” With the election of B.O., all things have changed...nothing is the same.

So we're supposed to let the most poorly educated, most self-indulgent, most narcissistic, and least American generation in history rule America unchallenged. Got it!

Anytime a nation sets its priorities based on what “youth” are demanding, it has a very serious problem. It isn't just the long-term viability of the GOP that's at stake, but the whole country that's headed down the tubes.

Of course, this can all be traced back to the RINOs who told us that the demographic make-up of America doesn't matter, that leftist control of the educational system doesn't matter, that leftist control of the culture doesn't matter. All that matters is free trade and lower business taxes. Don't worry about the rest of that “divisive” stuff.

So we didn't worry, and now we've produced a “youth vote” that worships Obama like some kind of Socialist deity.

Thanks, RINOs!

Then American liberty will die, because it cannot survive same-sex “marriage” and its attendant pathologies and restrictions on freedom.

“CF I think you posited once that we’ll win in the long term.”

If we haven’t imploded by then, than I think we will eventually. But we’ll mostly lose in the short term.

When I was growing up, many people my age remembered the failed Jimmy Carter Presidency, and responded by supporting Reagan in large numbers. Young people now remember George W. Bush, the Republican Jimmy Carter, and responded accordingly.

With JFK inspiring young Catholics adn Goldwater’s flop of a campaign, the GOP was declared dead. 8 years later in 1972, with the South turning for Nixon, pundits declared an emerging conservative majority. The point is that political fortunates are not fixed. Democracies need an opposition party to the incumbent party to be healthy. That said its going to take a while for the taste of Bush to wash away. If the economy continues to stagnate for the next 6 years, I expect the public to finally wake up.
