Pro-Life Ad on Adoption, Abortion to Air on American Idol Finale

Washington, DC -- The same pro-life organization that produced a well-received advertisement on President Barack Obama and abortion has another commercial it will air on the series finale of the popular television program American Idol.

CatholicVote.org, sponsored by the pro-life Catholic group Fidelis, is behind the ad, which is part of its “Imagine the Potential” series of television commercials.

The latest ad focuses on the lives of political and business leaders, sports figures, and others who all could have become victims of abortion, but, instead, were welcomed into loving families via adoption.

>>>Call me stupid but, was Bill Clinton adopted?

Perhaps not like one initially thinks of adoption. Bill Clinton’s biological father was killed in a car accident shortly before he was born in 1946. His mother remarried in 1950 and he was adopted by his step-father.

New Pro-Life Ad Focusing on Adoption, Abortion to Air on American Idol Finale

The same pro-life organization that produced a well-received advertisement on President Barack Obama and abortion has another commercial it will air on the series finale of the popular television program American Idol.

The ad includes a song and picture of icons such as John Lennon, Nelson Mandela, Nancy Reagan, Steve Jobs, Faith Hill, Jesse Jackson, Willie Nelson and others.

Professionally produced, the television ad features no voice-over, and the music plays the images of the notable public figures are revealed. It concludes with the tag line, "Life, Imagine the Potential."

Fidelis unveiled information about the new ad at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast on Friday and indicated it has “initial acceptance” for broadcast on the closing episode of American Idol, on the Fox network.

The goal of the ad is to reach the "mushy middle" of Americans who may oppose abortion but are lukewarm in their opposition. It will also reach out to Americans who mildly support legal abortions and can be converted to the pro-life position.

"Our goal is to reach the average American--your neighbor next door," the group said in a recent fundraising letter for the ad. "Radical pro-abortion advocates are not our target audience. And neither is the 'choir' who already agree with us."

"We must go after them in a new and compelling way," it says.

Ironically, the ad features notables who are pro-abortion in its collection of photos of adoptees, including former President Bill Clinton and musician Sarah McLachlan.

The first Fidelis ad, depicting President Barack Obama as an unborn child and asking what would happen had he been a victim of abortion, was rejected by CNN and NBC prevented it from airing during the Super Bowl.

That ad showed a beautiful picture of an unborn child during an ultrasound and says it would have been a tragedy had Obama been aborted.

Eventually, the group broadcasted the ad on Black Entertainment Television in Chicago during its January coverage of the presidential inauguration.

Again, I disagree with promoting pro-abort people by way of promoting the pro-life cause. The ad says isn't it wonderful they weren't aborted, but yet they lived to reach positions of prominence whereby they could promote or exonerate the abortion of many.

I also don't think the promotion of even non-pro-abort famous people as a way of getting the pro-life message across is very intelligent. Every child deserves to live, including the 99.999% who never become famous.

Hi FB! Very interesting point. Every child deserves a chance, whether or not he/she is destined to become famous.

I realize this thread is ancient. It came up when I googled (Don’t you love the new vocabulary the Internet has given us?) the terms abortion and adoption, trying to gain some understanding of how any adopted person could take a pro-abort position. People like Faith Hill and Sarah McLachlan make me want to gag. Do they hate their biological or adoptive families so much that they’d rather not be here? Or is it a case of, “Well, I made it. The law protected me. H*ll with everybody else.”? Sickening.

Did you hear about Sarah M.’s despicable treatment of Feminists for Life at her “Lilith Unfair”? She didn’t allow them to have a booth because “Their organization says that a woman doesn’t have the right to choose. I think that’s b*llsh*t.” I found out later she was adopted at birth! Too bad her natural mother didn’t have the right to “choose” in Canada in 1968 (no offense to her fans!). What hypocrisy.
