Officials 'encouraged' by Obama's health care proposal [BarryCare]

A local lawmaker and a healthcare executive see signs of hope in Monday’s announcement that the nation’s health care leaders stepped up and pledged significant cost savings — $2 trillion over 10 years — to help President Barack Obama reform health care.

Roger Longenderfer, Pinnacle Health’s chief executive officer, said he was “encouraged” by the commitment put forth by the health care industry.

“In the past, the industry has resisted change,” he said. “I think if the various parts of the industry can agree to assist each other, that will go a long way to providing care to more people, more Americans.”

State Sen. Pat Vance, R-31, a professional nurse, said she also thinks changes to the system would be a positive.

“I think the health care industry felt threatened by (Obama’s) proposals and felt they needed to come out, and I think that’s wonderful,” she said.

Vance categorized herself as “hopeful, but wary” about the plan.

When an industry bands together to cooperate we usually call it a syndicate and bring out the anti-trust dogs to sniff around. Not so when cooperation pleases the government.

Many more learned than I have read and looked at what the “health care industry” says it will do to generate cost savings.

There is nothing in their proposals to justify the $amounts they claim the proposals will save - only “hope”, which is nothing to bank on.

Pie in the sky a mile wide.

“’I think the health care industry felt threatened by (Obama’s) proposals and felt they needed to come out, and I think that’s wonderful,’ she said.”

Isn’t it wonderful when the government threatens people to get its way?

Actually, I commend her honesty. Normally people are too timid to admit government is all about force and intimidation. Hey, if you want force, that’s fine. Stand up and shout it. I want it too, only directed at terrorists and criminals.

“How long before State Oil, State Farms, State Everything!”

Where have you been? We’ve had state farms since the Depression at least.

Marxism in full play. What a crock — socialized medicine is about GOVERNMENT CONTROL. Why destroy the BEST health care system in the world — except for government power and control?

Officials? What officials? Obama and Daschel?

The industry realizes that there is a ton of money to be made when the taxpayer is forced to pay for it. The cost of healthcare is going to go up significantly when the govt controls it, even as services are cut for patients.

Candidate Obama's promise.

Reduce premiums and uninsured get same coverage as Congress

OBAMA: If you’ve got insurance through your employer, you can keep your insurance. We estimate we can cut the average family’s premium by about $2,500 per year.

If you don’t have health insurance, then we’re going to provide you the option of buying into the same kind of federal pool that both Sen. McCain and I enjoy as federal employees.

Let's hold his feet of clay to the fire!

The problem as I see it is that the initial plan will be a partnership between private industry and government and will on the surface, look much like today's system but including the so-called uninsured with premiums paid by the Treasury.

Once in place, companies who have good health plans for their employees will begin taking their plans off the table, forcing employees to go into the program paid by the government, thereby saving the companies tons of money and adding to the taxpayers load. Soon it will be like a giant Social Security system - badly managed, always out of funding and eating up those who pay taxes. It will in a short period of time be a single payer system with all the problems we see in Canada and England and the US citizen loses - again!!!

So: What actually changed?

They arent talking about savings , they are speaking about cutting the increases. How can they do that? By changing the care given to Americans. It will end up meaning rationed care. Cutting tests and lab fee’s. It cannot be done and continue with the care we now get.

We could just refuse care for illegals and those not paying,or get illegals out of this country and save billions.I doubt care for patients who cannot pay will be cut, no, the cuts and savings will effect those now paying, not those who never paid. It’s the Obama way.

Healthcare will be the deciding issue for the fate of the GOP. If the GOP fails to stop Obama on socialized medicine, it will lose its last remaining reason not to be put out of business. This is the message that every GOP politician needs to hear. There can be no compromise. If the federal government controls health care, it will have total life-and-death power over each and every American.
