I didn’t know until today that Medicare patients are not permitted to pay “over and above” to doctors, if those doctors don’t accept Medicare as payment in full. I was shocked.

I was talking to my 87 year old neighbor tonight. She said she was fearful that this guy was going after the beginning of life, while going after the end of life (of which she is one)

With age comes great wisdom. And sometimes (like right now)..fear.

One thing I’m convinced of, is that Zero’s thoughts on health care are due to his mother’s death at a relatvely young age. He is angry that his mom died so young with so many medical bills. He is behaving as an angry and vengeful human being. But it’s important to remember that his mother would have NOT been covered by Medicare when she was dying....SHE WAS NOT A U.S. Citizen. By law, she was a foreigner!

She painted her own portrait. But he’s going to make US pay for it.

I have not heard, read, or seen any evidence that Obama's mother was not a U.S. citizen. His father, of course, was a Kenyan. But his mother was a U.S. citizen, to my knowledge.

Please provide an authoritative link for evidence of this assertion.

Oh, and welcome to Free Republic.

A doctor can charge a fee 20% above what Medicare pays. It is called the "excess". Most Medicare Supplement plans pay for that 20% excess.

This is what i don’t understand, and i thought the law was that the doctor couldn’t charge the patient for what medicare didn’t cover. so WHY??? do all these elderly people on medicare have to have supplemental insurance??????????
