I want to go visit Alaska too..I am familiar with those cruises, but they only give you a day to visit a certain area right..or is it better to just take a plane to Alaska and visit all the sights. Alaska is such a beautiful place to live, I am excited to one day going there and my dream is to meet Sarah Palin, I admire her so much. I would walk over hot coals to get her elected. I would campaign for her, raise money for her, whatever it took.

The cruise is a blast!!! First, everything is taken care of for you. You never have to worry about food, where to stay, etc.

My favorite part of the cruise; however, is the Alaskan scenery. We had a room with a balcony, and I loved just watching the mountains go by. We saw a multitude of waterfalls and glaciers. We didn’t do Glacier Bay, we cruised the Endicott Arm, and the water turns this emerald green when you get up there, and all the icebergs floating around. Absolutely stunning!

I highly recommend an Alaskan cruise. It was my dream vacation. It was our favorite family vacation ever. My teenage kids loved being on the ship, and my husband and I loved everything.

You have a good idea.

The cruise up the Inside passage is fairy tale pretty - if it is not raining (too much)

Take a flight to Juneau with a 3 day layover.
GO see the Mendehall Glacier (you can walk right up to it) GO dog sledding on the ice and take a flight seeing tours of the area. See if Sara is in town (mostly not).

Then, fly up to Anchorage and pick up your rental motor home. Stop at Costco and load up on eats.
Drive to Fairbanks - spend 3 or 4 days there. Take the bus/van to the Arctic Circle, Manly Hot Springs and Eagle (if they get it fixed).

On the way back spend a coule of days at Denali, take the bus back into the PArk.

Back in ANchorage, hit the COstco again.

Drive South. Drop by Whittier (cool beans tunnel drive) and take a Prince William Sound boat ride. Drive on to Seward.
Stay a day or two. Take one of the boat tours.

Drive on to Homer. SPend a couple of days just soaking up the Spit, the halibut fishing and all.

Drive back to ANchorage and cry your eyes out because you have to go ‘home’.

Do this between 1 June and 15 Aug.

The winters are horrible, cold, dark and ...well, you get the idea.

Alaska, come vist and spend your dough.

Then, go home, tell your firends..

I you really want to see southeast Alaska, use the State ferry system (Alaska Marine Highway) You can take your own vehicle and stay at each destination as long as you would like. The ferry runs through the same scenery and stops at the same ports and more as the big cruise liners. Cheaper too.
