A very big line was crossed here and it wasn't Cheney who crossed it. In light of the unprecedented assault by an incoming Democrat administration against the preceding Republican administration Cheney would be a fool not to defend himself and his principles. And he's no fool.

That's sort of what my fellow conservative business partner said at lunch today. He said "If somebody was personally insulting and blaming you for _____ fill in the blank than you can't just sit there and not defend yourself." I'll say to you the same thing I said to him.... If it was a personal attack on Dick Cheney he can respond....

When this current administration is leaking noises about prosecuting the former POTUS and the VP, then Cheney has every right to speak out.

IMHO, that's just what we have here. When the Dims started talking about a DOJ investigation, possible criminal charges, star chamber congressional hearings and "truth commissions" they engaged in just that sort of personal attack on Bush, Cheney, and everyone involved in the GWOT effort. It's a declaration of war against their fellow Americans and it's time we understood we need to fight back.
