Darn right that I was ready to be done!

I was already looking ahead to going to ADA Officers' Basic at Fort Bliss, Jump School at Fort Benning, then heading off to Germany for 3 years.

No doubt about it, though: graduations are as much a celebration for parents as they are for the students. I sure felt that way at my oldest chidren's HS graduation.

And you touched my heart on one aspect. Until this moment, I had never thought about the pride my father must have felt, seeing me graduate from college and being commissioned as an Army 2nd Lt. We were never that close, as my parents divorced when I was 6. Fortunately for me, the void was filled by my stepfather, who was always a source of guidance and strength for me.

However, I do remember how much he enjoyed it when I took him to dinner at the Officers Club at Fort Bliss.

Glad I helped you realize how we parents feel watching just about everything our kids do.... even that first training wheel bike ride is special to us, so you can imagine how we feel for graduations and Commissions.

Congrats to you for your accomplishmenets - I'm sure your college days and Army days are great memories! lol My husband still talks about his days in the Marine Corps like it was yesterday....
