Roxana Saberi, an American journalist jailed for spying in Iran, could be released within hours after her sentence was overturned, her lawyer said today.

An Iranian appeals court has reduced the eight-year jail sentence to a suspended two-year term. She was initially given the lengthy prison term during a secret hearing that sparked a diplomatic incident between Washington and Tehran.

Abdolsamad Khorramshahi, her lawyer, said: “The appeals court ... has reduced her jail sentence from eight years to two years of suspended sentence ... and she will soon be free.”

Ms Saberi, 31, a dual American-Iranian national who had lived in Tehran for the past six years, was found guilty of espionage and told she would be imprisoned in the notorious Evin prison in the Iranian capital.

No, it is more likely that obama gave centrifuges, and technology transfer for a guarantee that only white Christians would be killed in the next terrorist attack on America, and a guarantee that these things would be used to destroy Israel. That seems more likely. He is suppressing any oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear energy sources. He wants to destroy our traditional culture and bring us to world socialism.

It is good news that she is being released.

However, although they call her an American journalist,” she is also an Iranian citizen based on her father's birth and citizenship in Iran. Also I believe I read that she writes for British publications.

She is a dual citizen. This is all a sham perpetrated by the Iranian government. They created the problem and now want to be thanked by Obama for solving it. And Obama will use the release as evidence that the Iranian regime is responding to his diplomatic overtures. This is a win-win for Obama and the mullahs and a loser for the USA.

She is lucky to be alive. Wonder why she thought she would be ok living in a country that treats women as property? Perhaps she has a death wish or fantasizes about being raped in prison? Whatever the reason, hopefully the experience of an Iranian prison has shocked her to her senses and she will leave Iran and never return.
