The “rapture” doctrine is pure hokum, created out of a fringe movement of the Plymouth Brethren in the 19th Century by John Nelson Darby, codified and systematized by C.I. Scofield, and promulgated by Dwight L. Moody, with the Dallas Theological Seminary sitting as the Sanhedrin. It is not part of historical, orthodox Christian teaching.
