We did a Niagara Falls trip last September. I can’t tell you how many times we crossed the border. We were never stopped, even with a dog in the car.
Not once.
Same thing with me. I’m formerly from BC and have settled in this great country. The immigration stops between Canada and the US is as night and day.
When I went back last Christmas, it was straight forward “hi, are you declaring anything and what is your purpose in Canada?”
US side: “So you’ve been in Canada for how long? Are you sure? Where do you live? What is your status in the United States? How much do you have in your wallet? Where do you work? (for the next 20 minutes)
