A secret American delegation was sent by US President Barack Obama this week to solicit Saudi Arabian and other Gulf rulers for hundreds of billions of petro-dollars for investment in US and global economic stimulus plans, exclusive Gulf sources report. They came away empty-handed.
Apparently Obama's groveling before King Fahd wasn't sufficient to appease Arab anger over the fact that he's also running after Iran's fanatical leadership like a lovesick teenager. Appeasing dictators and tyrants is a tricky business.

After the way that the Chrysler investors were treated, I think that it’s will be much harder to attract international capital to our markets.

He didn’t bow down convincingly enough. And, worse, he denied it later. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is an Arab/African thing going on too, as (I’ve hear) Arabs tend to look down on Africans—even Muslim ones.
And, I’m sure reaching out to Iran doesn’t help either.

I guess the Saudis don’t much pay attention to the fawning reports in US and EU newspapers. He may be our “messiah”, but most Arabs look down their noses at Africans.

According to our sources, the negative vibes between the Gulf and Washington over the Obama administration's policy of favoring Tehran have made these Arab rulers doubly wary of responding to the US president's appeal for a Gulf stake in US and global economic recoveryImagine that! Cuddling up tp Terhan made them nervous...

CNBC was talking about $300 a barrel gas. The terms should get much better...

Basically Obama is gilding the lily more than a little bit on the economy right now.

Another “secret” behind the scenes mission? Like the letter to Russia asking for help with Iran? And he got nothing?
I think everyone must know by now that this guy’s completely untrustworthy. How sad for us.
This again reminds me of Reagan’s speech after the Challenger disaster:
“I’ve always had great faith in and respect for our space program. And what happened today does nothing to diminish it. We don’t hide our space program. We don’t keep secrets and cover things up. We do it all up front and in public. That’s the way freedom is, and we wouldn’t change it for a minute.”
