WASHINGTON -- Congressional leaders were briefed in detail about techniques used in the Central Intelligence Agency's interrogation program, according to a new intelligence document.
The document appears to conflict with recent statements from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was then the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee. Ms. Pelosi has said she hadn't been told that the CIA was using the technique known as waterboarding, or simulated drowning. According to the document, Ms. Pelosi was one of the first lawmakers briefed on the interrogations in 2002.
Ms. Pelosi's spokesman Thursday reiterated the speaker's earlier contention that she was told in the briefing that waterboarding had been authorized but not yet used. Related Documents
CIA Director Leon Panetta said the agency compiled the document -- based on the files and meeting summaries written at the time that represented the best recollections of the briefers -- in response to requests from Republican lawmakers, including the top Republican on the intelligence panel.

Caught in her own witch hunt...
So sad... HA!
Maybe she thought they meant ‘surfing’. She is from California.
You are so right. Time to crush her soul... Well, if she had a soul.
She’s really from the Peoples Republic of San Francisco.
(from different source)
"We were not I repeat were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used."
In a statement issued Friday, Pelosi said: "Of the 40 CIA briefings to Congress reported recently in the press, I was only briefed once, on September 4, 2002, as I have previously stated.
"As I said in my statement of December 9, 2007:
"'I was briefed on interrogation techniques the administration was considering using in the future. The administration advised that legal counsel for both the CIA and the Department of Justice had concluded that the techniques were legal.'
"I had no further briefings on the techniques.
You can "- I repeat -" all you like.
You are sooo over.
“the point is, she knew it was on the table and made absolutely NO objection... why”
“...she recalled being told by the CIA that the techniques “could be used, but not that they would.””
Exactly! She acts this way because principle and the best interests of the US are not what drive her. Partisanship, power, and to some extent probably ideology do. It’s all about making Bush and Republicans look bad.
Over at DU they're saying that this exonerates Pelosi - that these recollections are contradictory and vague. I had to leave before I read any further and the arteries in my eyes ruptured.
Let’s face it folks. Pelosi isn’t the sharpest card in the deck. She probably didn’t understand what she was being told. I am not making an alibi for her, but she is dumb.
I'm sending my Congress-critter an e-mail asking him why this old bat gets to lie about it.
How much play is this getting on the morning shows and ABCNNBCBSMSNBCNBC? Has Olberdork made her the worst person of the week? Does Chrissy and Katie have their panties in a twist over this? Nothing will happen to this idiot, she has the MSM providing cover for her.
