SIERRA VISTA The Huachuca Area Republican Womens Club will be having a collection for troops in Afghanistan on Monday.
The collection will take place at their luncheon at the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center. The event begins at 10:30 a.m.
After our successful donation of money for phone cards to our military in Iraq, we decided we wanted to do more, said Vera Hylsky, the clubs president.
They were told donations would soon be needed for troops and Afghanistan. Toiletries, snacks and games are a few of the requested items. Anyone interested in donating or attending the luncheon should contact Hylsky at 803-1718.
Requested donations for troops in Afghanistan:
Razors and shaving cream
Long white crew socks
Sealed snack foods
Ramen noodles, quick mac and other just add water foods
Small plastic containers, two cups or less
Twin sheets, towels
Tampons and pads
Full size toiletries, e.g. shampoo
Hair ties
Baseballs, softballs and board games
God bless them. What does the left ever do for the troops?
BUBKIS!
Maybe I should call Vera and see if there is any way we can help her and her group...
Good Idea. We could put a collection Drop Box in Bldg 62750 where I am and a box in 1838 by you and she could well get a load.
Not Exac-ticklely what I was thinking, but not a bad idea.
Remember, I have addresses....
Heard anything back from your AFPS contact an covering the event here at the Veteran’s Cemetary on the 16th?
Nil heard. I’ll see if I can’t call them - I have a business card laying around here somewhere!
I just called Ms. Hylsky - what they really need is to have donations dropped off at the Windemere on Monday. It’s just about too late to set up a collection for them - but she has my number and will let us know when they plan another event.
