Cantor, GOP to introduce Keep Terrorists out of America Act

Culpeper’s Congressman Eric Cantor, Chief Minority Whip in the U.S. House, will join other Republicans today in D.C. in decrying the potential for relocating Guantanamo Bay detainees to prisons in the United States.

President Barack Obama, on his second day in office, signed an executive order ordering the terrorist detention center in Cuba closed within a year. The White House has not announced where the 250 prisoners will be transferred.

But a couple weeks after Obama made the decision to close Guantanamo, Cantor issued a statement objecting to possible “ramifications” of the announcement. “Do Not Move Known Terrorists to Virginia,” the release from Cantor’s office said.

Cantor issued the statement in response to a 2007 report from the House Armed Services Committee that indicated Guantanamo detainees could be relocated to several facilities in the U.S., including detention centers at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico and the Naval Station Brig in Norfolk.

Today, Cantor joins House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio in introducing the “Keep Terrorists Out of America Act,“ legislation aimed at stopping terrorist detainees from Guantanamo from being transferred or released into the United States, according to a release from Cantor’s office.

Also participating are: Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence of Indiana, Intelligence Committee Ranking Republican Pete Hoekstra of Michigan, Homeland Security Committee Ranking Republican Pete King of New York, Armed Services Committee Ranking Republican John McHugh of New York, Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida, Judiciary Committee Ranking Republican Lamar Smith of Texas and Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia.

Traditionally, acts of Congress have the opposite effect of their lofty title.

This bill will probably open the floodgates for millions of Iraqis and Pakistanis.

My recommendation is Nancy Pelosi’s home. Her mansion should sufficiently hold all of them. If not, then the overflow should fit nicely into Harry Reid’s home. They want them released - let the DNC take care of them all.

Nancy’s place is an excellent idea.

Harry only has a little condo at the Ritz Carlton, but what would you think about putting some up at one of Jean-Fraude Kerry’s five places? Maybe his villa in France?
