Obama may ultimately win this power play to deliver Chrysler to the UAW. But it is not healthy for Chrysler in the long run. Desperate for investment, Chrysler (and other UAW shops) will be shunned by investors that perceive it is just an extension of the Democrat/UAW mafia that can change contract terms and ride roughshod over the law anytime it wants.

The dems are in bed with the unions, so anything is okay as long as the union is rewarded. Investors and taxpayers all be damned! This is politics at its worse!

From Neal Boortz's recommended reading list, an excerpt of an article from Bloomberg.com:

I feel like I have seen this bad gangster movie before.

In the opening scene, a naive investor buys some bonds, explaining to his staff that they are a sound investment secured by hard assets. Even if the company goes under, the investor explains, bond investors stand to get about 80 percent of their money back.

The next day, a government official calls and offers to buy up the bonds at 33 cents on the dollar, while giving controlling interest in the company to the labor unions. The investor refuses. That night, a man shows up at his home.

“We’re not saying anything bad is going to happen to you,” the tough says, “but the big boss is going to be very disappointed in you if you don’t take the deal. By the way, how’s your little girl? Is she still going to school down on Federal Street?” The investor caves.

The evolution of the Chrysler LLC bankruptcy seemed almost as bad. The Obama administration brokered a deal that gave labor unions a 55 percent equity stake in Chrysler, putting their interests ahead of the secured interests of bondholders.

“One person described the administration as the most shocking ‘end justifies the means’ group they have ever encountered. . . . Both were voters for Obama in the last election.”

I love it when people have to deal with the consequences of their own stupidity.

In other words, my fellow Americans-—
BE AFRAID...BE VERY AFRAID
It seems that in 2009, the greatest threat to “Freedom of the Press” is....the PRESS itself.

The Wall Street Journal is the only place I've seen where they are talking about the serious legal issues involved--trampling rights of contract that are very basic to our system of laws by favoring the group Obama likes (unions) over those who legally have a prior claim on the money. Very dangerous precedent.

The MSM has become a willing and active extension of the ‘Bama presidency. They should be concerned over any allegation, specious or not, that they are used or that there are threats that they would be used, as an instrument of intimidation. The MSM is becoming more and more the center of the news, and it seems to bother them not a bit. One can only conclude that the role pleases them.

Neither side is backing down. This is going to go nuclear. Whoever wins will win VERY big, and whoever loses will be utterly destroyed.

This is it folks. Obama is either going down in flames over this or, when the dust settles, we will have a VERY different Amerika.

IMO
