This new law does not force any religion to recognize a marriage that falls outside of its beliefs," the governor said. "It does not require the church to perform any ceremony with which it disagrees." "We'll wait to pass another law that does those things."

“””I always laugh when gays who mock God then want to use HIS institution.””””
Its not about marriage.
Its not about love for another
and its not about God.
Its about these queers pitching a fit because they can't get what they want. 90% who scream about it never had any intention of getting married to start with. Its never been about marriage. This is what gayness has always been about.... “look at me, look at me”. Its a psychological problem.

She was surprised that I gave no religious reasons. You can win this argument without getting into valid yet subjective religious issues. I gave a short speech on that very subject at an Alan Keyes rally in '04. Both the local weekly and the local daily reported on the rally...guess what the one speech they didn't quote from was?

Worse than that. This rash of states approving same-sex marriage makes it increasingly likely that the US is hit with another terrorist attack launched by Islamic fundamentalists in the near future. Homosexuality is (quite properly) considered an abomination in Islam*; this gives Muslim radicals one more big reason to hate the United States and try to destroy it.
* theoretically, homosexuality (via Leviticus) is also an abomination in Judaism and Christianity; sadly these faiths seem to have tossed Leviticus out the window. |

True dat, but if they decide to act out their “pi$$ed-offness” against the Fruited Plain, that could be a negative!

The people had no say. They should have been allowed to vote. This is a classic example of government run amok.
I suspect a rise in Libertarian voters this coming election. All three parties (D,R,L) will still trash America with this crap, but at least the Libertarians won't force us to pay for the mess it's going to create afterwords.

I wonder when the media and Hollywood will start pushing for interspecies marriage laws?

Why the sudden rush to change the laws of marriage in all the states? They want lost souls. They want hate. They want anger. They want violence.
Remember, Oboma is a member of the Alinski cult, who gives all praise to Lucifer. If they can get atheists and Christians to literally fight each other, imagine what they could get away with because of the chaos.

Judeo-Christian values are very practical - something that is poorly taught in parochial schools. Many Christians immediately lunge for their Bibles when arguing with a secular progressive. The SP simply dismisses the Bible as subjective, or forces the Christian to defend everything Biblical to uphold their argument.
Instead, the practical side should be argued. Wins every time.

—The SP simply dismisses the Bible as subjective, —
The fate of Sodom, The fate of Pharoah’s Egypt when he would not set the Hebrews free, the fate of the Roman Catholic church in the 16th century when it ignored Leviticus (i.e. would not annul Henry VIII’s marriage, causing a catastrophic schism), even the fate of the atheistic Soviet Union illustrates that God’s wrath is objective, not subjective!

Marriage is a sacrament. The homosexuals will never, ever be united in Holy Matrimony. That's for heterosexuals only. Homosexuals need not apply.
They can play "married", but anyone with a mind knows it's not anything like marriage, and never will be. They can't dictate another persons thought, no matter how many corrupt politicians they pay off.
To: steve-b
“...that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage.”
Exactly. And that’s an argument against, not for signing on.
To: concerned about politics
The point is that, they (homosexuals) are in the eyes of the law married, and that gives such "unions" a sort of secular sanctification. When you get down to it, the whole point of marriage, whether performed by clergy or a civil official, is to give social aprroval to a union between two people who are going to engage in sexual activity. By elevating same-sex "unions" to co-equal legal status with "true" (1 man, 1 woman) marriage, it gives legal and social approval to depraved relationships. It also turns marriage as an institution into a farce, and will encourage more hetero couples to simply "shack-up", rather than bother going to the altar.

I might be a little paranoid here, but I have an uneasy feeling that a sinister hidden agenda behind this whole Gay marriage movement is the destruction of the evangelical Christian Church - or the remnants thereof. They want us to fight each other. They want social upheaval.
Cardinal Caro Y Rodriguez published The Mystery of Freemasonry Unveiled in 1925. Rodriguez names several references for a particular letter written by Albert Pike in 1871 suggesting a plan of universal destruction, one of which is Le Palladisme : Culte de Satan-Lucifer dans les Triangles Maconniques
We shall unleash the Nihilists and the Atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute Atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."
(Google it for the entire letter)

I think it’s more than psychological - it’s spiritual as well.
