I'm the father of an 18 year old daughter, who not only graduates from high school next week but isn't pregnant. I'd say she's a better role model for abstinence than Bristol Palin is.
Congrats to your daughter! I’m one of those who said “no” until I was married. I knew I could never support a baby on my own and didn’t want to chance it. It isn’t rocket science. Just a little common sense is all that’s needed.

I always have to laugh when parents assume a daughter who managed NOT to get PG has never had sex. Some of the most promiscuous girls in my high school (and that was many years ago) managed to graduate without having a baby.
I recently heard a woman gossiping about a PG teen and was totally unaware her high school daughter was performing some impossible-to-get-PG sex acts with many young male students. I learned a long time ago to assume nothing and be prepared for anything.
Congratulations.
Our oldest daughter is scoping out graduate school, and our next oldest daughter is in high school. The youngest isn't old enough for any of that to be a concern yet.
Neither are or have been pregnant, in trouble with the law, or in any trouble to speak of. They do volunteer work, hold jobs as time allows, and are intelligent, accomplished, well-spoken young women.
Finding someone like Bristol Palin, who has made some truly terrible and tragic decisions, then make her look glamorous by giving her endless publicity is a horrible idea and sends a bad message.
Trying to tell teens Look what happens when you have a baby out of wedlock - people hang on your every word, you get to go on TV and wear pretty clothes and people will give you lots of attention won't benefit at-risk teens in any way.
Making a celebrity of Bristol Palin is wrong.
