If you want an example of the Mainstream media IGNORING and burying important news that doesn't fit thier pre-set agenda, THIS IS IT. And to top it off, this Governor is a DEMOCRAT.

It's called the MONTANA FIREARMS FREEDOM ACT.

There are grand total of 2, just TWO articles on this in a Google News Search, one of those is a blogs, and the other is a local Montana TV story about Soviergnty bills, and not the gun bill! http://news.google.com/news/more?um=1&ned=us&cf=all&ncl=1346554341

TO THE MODERATOR: An EXTENSIVE Google search for ANYTHING resembling a mainstream article on this shows that none exist, but thier are HUNDREDS of discussions and blog articles about it! THIS SHOULD BE BREAKING NEWS.

The "Powers That Be" are determined to bury this one, and keep it quiet. And I think we ALL know why!

Watch the libs and MSM, send some idiot over state lines, into Montana to instigate some (what they consider) newsworthy disgruntle individual attack. Create a Virginia Tech or Columbine in Montana.

Might have to make Montana a future destination if Obama screws this country up more than he already has (and we all know he will).

Like,
May the Force be with you Dude

Seriously, I applaud any attempt to get
information out to the public.
“Our” MSM sure doesn’t try so it’s kinda
up to us little guys to inform.

Not to pee on your parade, but Gonzales v. Raich will likely be the precedent the government uses to kill this idea ....

Silencers work best with a bolt-action rifle. There is a long barrel and the chamber is closed tight so as to direct all the gases though the silencer at the tip of the barrel. Semi-auto pistols and revolvers do not really muffle the sound very well except on the silver screen. The revolvers bleed gas out with the sound all over the place. The semi-auto pistols bleed the gases out when the slide recoils back.

Actually, semi-autos are just fine for suppressors. The breech remains closed and sealed by brass until after the gasses have been expelled through the muzzle. Typical revolvers are another matter.

If this stands, it will only apply to MT manufactured firearms and for their citizens only. Of course, it may be an incentive for more firms to take up manufacturing in MT. The best hope is that other states will follow.

Wonder how "manufactured" is defined in the law.
If my local gunsmith builds up a nice 1911 from one or several original weapons, has he "manufactured" it?

Or does he need to cast/forge/mill/whatever the frame and stamp his own name on it...

A little more detail and a little less hyperbole would make this a little better thread.

This sounds all well and fine on the surface, but I wouldn't be too quick to celebrate.

Putting on the tin foil hat for a moment, what if this is a devious plan to force a (corrupt) supreme court to rule on Federal powers, and the Federal power to control firearms?

This could be a devastating blow to gun ownership in this country as well, if this is a scam to establish precedent in the top courts.

I heard about this earlier on Beck with Judge Napolitano. They mentioned that the Governor would be making a speech at the signing. If anybody finds a transcript it sounds like it would certainly be worth posting.

The fed now either takes them on and risks them saying the federal agents have no right to violate their state gun laws and arrest the federal agents that try to enforce the federal firearms acts.

The feds won't go after the State of Montana on this, they'll go after some individual who tries to deal in firearms without a license. I'd suggest any individual who is contemplating putting all this to a test should first familiarize himself with US vs Stewart and Gonzalez vs Raich.

Not ONE of which I can access at work - they're blocked either for "social" or "weapons" - so this is a self ping to read up on it at home.
