Unfortunately, Thomas Sowell is far too intelligent, and has too much integrity to run for political office. Ummm, you've just identified a BIG problem in our culture.
If only narcissists, glad handers and grifters run for office, we'll have the kind of government we're getting now. Men like Sowell should want to run for office. But as you point out, he wouldn't fit in - incentives need to be changed.
