The American media has just released an avalanche of reports assessing President Barack Obamas first 100 days in office. Ignore it all. It doesnt matter. The revealing part of his presidency hasnt begun yet. At about this point in his presidency, George W. Bush had, with the help of his secretary of state, Colin Powell, just won the release of the crew of a U.S. spy plane from China, leading the world media elite to declare Bush a pragmatic president in foreign affairs, and Powell his most important advisor. As for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, it was said that he would be gone by summera short-serving and utterly forgettable secretary of defense. 9/11, of course, still lay in the future.
President Obama may not face a single cataclysmic event like 9/11. But he will certainly face an array of unforeseen crises that will test him and reveal his inner self the way that 9/11 revealed Bushs inner self, and will take his presidency in ironic directions. American presidencies in these tumultuous times, with their rapid-fire sequences of events, are like wars. And warseven successful onesnever go according to plan. If presidential terms were like visits to the dentist, Obama is still in the waiting room listening to the elevator music, with the drill yet to be turned on.

Disagree.......this country will be hit with MULTIBLE 9/11 events.....
Obama’s reaction will be to blame this country and it’s former leadership while seeking ways to appease our attackers.
That said, when Israel moves against Iran, we will see Obama's true colors...he stands with the Muslim world and not with the U.S. and her true allies.
the election of Obama ishimselfitself an event like 9/11
Nice post SonofDarkSkies and a belated welcome! I also saw your Mathematica Alpha post, very interesting that...great stuff about the ability of web to advance general knowledge and education...keep up the good work, thanks, ElV
Thx Much!:-)
I first read the last word in the title as “Untrusted”.
Works both ways, I guess.
Up until last week, that pig would have flown. With Specter moving into the Rat column, Obama now owns everything.
Of course, I add the following query of my liberal jousters: why do you want, or need, bipartisanship? If you are so convinced you're right, GO FOR IT! If Obama's policies work out as you think they will, then Democrats will be in charge for the next 40 years.
So EVERYTHING is hunky dory. Got that? No problems to consider. Nothing needing his attention. He's ok for this job because America is in a neutral state.
The Atlantic adored Bubba Clinton too.
Bill Clinton faced multiple 9/11 events and ducked out every opportunity.
The 1993 WTC bombing, the Kobar Towers bombing, the USS Cole bombing.
But he had us covered for Y2K!
The banking crisis was certainly a man-made disaster. And possibly a deliberate tanking of the American economy. There were insiders. There were people who knew and fought investigations before the wreckage occured. And in the end, it has given the White House to the Democrats and ushered in nationalization of American industry.
The banking crisis continues. But Atlantic ain’t worried with Obama in charge. The fox is in the hen house.
You are right. We shall see what happens when the Middle East explodes in war. Will Obama order bombings on Israel? How he acts there will set the stage for everything else including American Attacks. What would he have done on 9-11? What will the world do when things fall apart? I see problems coming in South America, South Africa, the Pacific and more. Obama will be tested and so will we.
