PRESIDENT Obama's forays into history, especially Eu ropean history, are interest ing but not always accurate. Who can forget his description during the presidential campaign of African-American GIs liberating Auschwitz? (It was the Russians.) Or his admission during his recent European trip that he didn't know how to translate a certain word into Austrian? (There is no "Austrian"; Austrians speak German.)
His evocation of Winston Churchill in his press conference last Wednesday took confusion to a new height. The president cited the great British prime minister in support of his ban on enhanced interrogation techniques at Gitmo and elsewhere, noting that Churchill never allowed torture of German detainees in World War II "even when London was being bombed to smithereens."
Strange words of praise from the president -- who in February ordered that Churchill's bust be removed from the Oval Office. (We're told this was because British authorities roughly interrogated Obama's Kenyan grandfather in the Mau Mau rebellion, during Churchill's second tour as prime minister. Not exactly an advertisement for "Winston Churchill, foe of torture.")

His understanding of history is tenuous at best. The Germans were uniformed soldiers, who were guaranteed rights under various treaties/conventions. The modern jihadi is not a soldier in any classical sense (fits with the pirate, brigand type through history) and thus is entitled to no protection under any conventions.
This idea goes way back to Roman times when armies used to distinguish between combatants and irregulars.
Obama is a tool, and worse...a fool.
Some think Obama got this from the gay Andrew Sullivan’s screeds. It would mean that Obama was so taken with this historical revision, that he forgot why he returned the Churchill bust to England.
How come we have never heard this before from the media?
Can you imagine the "intrigue" stories the press would have lusted to have written about GW Bush's psyche if his father, George Herbert Walker Bush, had been "roughly interrogated" by a foreign power?
When Bush said something stupid, it was widely held as evidence of marginal intellect. Now Obama’s doing it, and it suddenly isn’t.
If it wasn’t for double standards, the Left wouldn’t have any, at all.
I think it’s rather funny how liberals conjure up images of conservatives in order to justify and advance their leftist agendas...

What’s this I see? An article in the MSM about the obamination that isn’t sycophantic fawning on his every utterance? Can it be that a tiny fraction of the media is developing apostate tendencies? Tell me it isn’t true.
And his loyalities are clear since he insulted our friends, the British, in favor of his Kenyan grandfather. That is not the way to lead or put America first.
I guess this proves that a Harvard law degree is worthless....
