Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney joked about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palins place on Times list of influential people, saying, But was that the issue on the most beautiful people or the most influential people?
In an interview on CNNs State of the Union broadcast Sunday, Romney was responding to a question from the moderator as to whether Times inclusion of Palin and talk show host Rush Limbaugh on their list of The Worlds Most Influential People was a positive or negative thing for the Republican Party.
Romney added, I think there are a lot more influential Republicans than that would suggest.
After his boss caught flak for his apparent dissing of Palin, Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom spun the comment as just a self-deprecating joke as to why there werent more Republicans on the list, according to a report in Politico.
I think there are 100 influential Republicans alone who have tremendous ideas and I hope that we can all work together to accomplish what we believe is best for America, Palin said through a spokeswoman.

MITT ROMNEY One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.
Or this"These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense," he was quoted as saying. "They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."
There is (was?) alot of Mittsters here. I disagree with FR. There is no good reason to purge them. Many are quite conservative. Unlike me, they believe Mitts flip flops are genuine. Its the way it is. No sense in corronating palin or anyone else ahead of time.
He's acting all Conservative these days since he has to get reelected Gov. before he takes the big dive.
So the Boston Straggler thinks Palin is nothing but fluff. Romney is a living breathing parody of a politician.
Isn't that the new organization Mitt and The MeCain's have started up with oldtime Gingrich?
Never mind.
First of all the question is a stupid one. It allows the inference get across to the audience that either is bad for the party.
We need our people who subject themselves to these leftists to at least be able to think on their feet. Romneys response should have been:
That list also includes (doesnt have to mention all) Nancy Pelosi, Eric Holder, Rahm Emanuel,Blago, Roland Burris, Hillary, Michelle Obama, and Tim Geithner. Will you be asking the next Democrat on your show if their inclusion is a positive or negative thing for their party? Or - do you exclude Democrats from these type of slanderous questions?
Now - because Romney couldnt think on his feet (and any other Pubbie for that matter) the media has the story of another mini civil war in the party. When will our guys ever learn?
I don't expect perfection but Romney's flawed on way too many issues.
The civil war already started between the Palinistas and Romniacs months ago.
No, I don’t think she has ever said anything nearly as stupid or left-wing as Mitt ever has. That’s why I think her image can be burnished and her credentials kept intact.
I don’t think there’s any redemption for Mitt’s off-mark comments and policy stances through the years. I don’t think Romney will ever be electable. I’m not sure why he hasn’t figured that out.
The older I get, the lesser that is a problem.
Judging from a majority of posts, I would say the “attempts to sow discord” can be deemed a rousing success.
I’m not even sure what that is supposed to mean. But it’s pretty clear you’re off-base.
Romney is easy to attack. But for heaven’s sake, let’s attack him for the dumb things he actually SAYS and MEANS and DOES, not for perceived injustices.
Mike Murphy is the biggest kneepadder in the RINO Party, bar none.
It's fascinating that this POS on wheels, this total sellout for as much filthy lucre he can scam, is now pathetically trying to get back in Romney's good graces, despite directly sabotaging him last time around:
"Governor Mitt Romney's top political strategist [Mike Murphy] has told a prominent conservative magazine that his client has been ''faking" his support of abortion rights in Massachusetts."Adviser says governor "faked" stance on abortion
It's spelled I-M-P-O-T-E-N-C-E.
True - but - my point remains - why allow the inference to begin with? As long as we allow the media to paint the picture and dictate the message without a fight, we’re never gonna get ahead.
“But for heavens sake, lets attack him for the dumb things he actually SAYS and MEANS and DOES, not for perceived injustices.”
What a lovely idea...too bad it will fall on deaf ears.
I agree but just as you did not with Fred, you don't extend this same courtesy to Sarah. You attempt to purge at every chance. At least you're honest about Sarah, you don't want her only because she's a woman (hefty intellectual thought behind that). Despite your attempted slight, it's also clear that this woman does not fight with a "purse".
