Democrats drop funds to close Gitmo

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Democrats are refusing to pay for President Barack Obama's plan to relocate prisoners from the Guantanamo detention facility where enemy combatants are being held.

Obama has signed an executive order to close the facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by early next year. But the Pentagon has yet to come up with a plan on where to put the 240 or so prisoners. Between 50-100 are likely to be sent to the United States.

No lawmaker wants the accused terrorists in their backyard.

House Democrats unveiled a $94.4 billion war funding bill Monday and it had no money for the relocation plan.

The step is not likely to be the last word, however. If needed, money could be transferred later—without a politically difficult vote.

Is this just the Dems covering for Obama to not close Gitmo because his moonbat base will go nuts?

My guess is that they don’t want them released in their own districts and have blowback happen.

“NIMBY”

Or “not in my back yard” will play well here.

Unfortunately, Leavenworth looks like a home to a few of these scum.

Hope we can hang that around the necks of some KC Democrats and Nebraska Democrats.

Why not release some of them in Bill Ayer’s neighborhood, they can swap bomb making stories...

Means nothing. - The funds will be appropriated from somewhere else, and the dems do not have to sign on board to send vicious trained murderers to the backyards of their own voters.
This is just the beginning though.
I fully expect hundreds of bills to come up, each of which is designed to prevent prisoners from ending up in their districts.

Since none of them are going to flip off Hussein, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

“No lawmaker wants the accused terrorists in their backyard. “

Accused?

Excuse me but those men there were captured on the Battlefield fighting against us not arrested in a bar somewhere.

Why are we in this situation? Because none of the terrorists’ home countries will take them back because they are indeed dangerous terrorists.

I would propose releasing them in Berkeley, Madison and other appropriate anti-American communities where they will find it easier to reform themselves back into society.

Saudi Arabia is giving those released from Gitmo, a new car, a house, and a marriage. The USA is just not a thrilled with these terrorists.

They ought to be invited to 1600 Pennsylvania where they should feel right at home with the US of A hating occupants.
