General Katawal has always been loyal to king Gyanendra of Nepal who is a hard leftist.
In what sense was he a ‘hard leftist’? He came accross to me as a ‘hard traditionalist’ who seemed to want to turn the clock back to the 17th century with a good ol’ fashioned absolute monarchy.
And in a monarchy, an army officer who remains steadfastly loyal to the monarch could not really be described as a ‘leftist’ for doing so. If anything, it is right-wing because it is an extremely conservative thing to do in a country that has had a political culture of a monarchy that takes an active role in politics....
