There are people of good character in every religion and denomination.

There is? (Wanna let us know who the good-character Satanists are?)

Conversely, there are people of poor character in every religion and denomination.

You know the Judeo-Christian faith actually leans much more toward this character assessment than your previous statement:
...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God... (Romans 3:23)
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. (Isaiah 64:6)

By all means, approach people as being made in God's image -- but just beware that image is badly marred.

Where do you stop the litmus test?

You know it's funny, if you ask most FREEPERS + look @ polling data, about half of America -- and a much higher %, it seems, of FREEPERS, wouldn't vote for a Muslim candidate. What's interesting on the threads in the past two years where discussion ensues about voting for Muslim candidates is that I can't recall a post like yours rushing into defend Muslim candidates. So tell us, if a FREEPER says he won't vote for a Muslim candidate, or an atheist candidate, or a Scientologist, or a Wicca witch, or a Satanist, do you rush in to ask the same question? Do you say, "Gee, if you won't vote for a Muslim, well, then, where does the litmus test stop?" (If not, why not?)

Polling data already shows up that almost half of America says they wouldn't vote for an atheist or Muslim POTUS candidate. Do you take issue with this high % of Americans? (Yes or no?)

Why might I or any Christian have problems with a Muslim candidate? Well, for one thing, most Muslims consider Christians as "infidels." If he's mislabeling our very faith foundation -- a faith that covers 1/3rd of the world, how does that exude confidence or inspiration that he has good discernment -- especially dealing in foreign affairs where Christians are persecuted?

Since official LDS doctrine on Christian sects isn't really all that distinct from Muslims -- Muslims call us "infidels"; Mormons call Christian sects "apostates" -- how do the questions I just asked differ then between Muslims & Mormons? Both mislabel 1/3rd of the world as either "infidels" or "apostates." How is that suppose to inspire the Christian vote?

Furthermore, according to Rasmussen polling data, even 55% of Democrats say it's either very important or important to take the faith of a candidate into consideration. (That goes up to almost 3/4 of Republicans and 92% of Evangelicals)

So are you telling the majority of all Americans they should just ignore faith considerations, after all? Are you telling 92% of Evangelicals that they're supposed to ignore that after, per RB?)

I don’t know any major Party candidates that claimed “Satanist” as their religion.

The only Satanists that I can recall is that 70s movie with PeterFonda and Karen Black in it where the Satanist Village fakes a school bus accident to get the Winnebago to stop.

LDS should promote positive image, Elder Perry says

"Recent studies, he said, found that "51 percent of people have no awareness of Mormon practices and beliefs," that "47 percent of people do not have a favorable view of Mormons," and "that 31 percent of people believe that Mormons are not Christian."

Mitt will just play the part of a spoiler in the next election, just the way he did in 2008.
