There's a video that discusses the various systems that I found very valuable.
There is a constant tension between the productive class (the ones who know how to make things and provide valuable services) and what I'll call "the articulate class", the people who are unable to really produce anything, but are skilled in the art of manipulating people.
“This is a man who has set back development in Mexico by his monopoly (or near monopoly) of the telecommunications system in that nation. He has been milking his profits for decades, blocking technological development of competitors by using his influence with politicians. The Times has historically derided this type of crony capitalism, especially when it takes place in the developing world because of its effects on the poor.”
This so called crony capitalism is nothing more than raw facism because a government or some group has basically eliminated any re competitors and awarded elite facist individuals/families with a protected monopoly or franchise.
ABCNNBCBS and the print mediots, who owned the tv nets had a monopoly with the so called news and programming. Beside the tv, they often had a monopoly or basically no competition for the fishwraps and major radio stations in their cities and areas.
To paraphrase Howie Carr, “Smug arrogance” isn’t a good business plan. It only works where the Smuggees have a monopoly. Those days are coming to an end across this nation. The elite liberal arrogant snobs, who inherited the fascist monopolies of their fathers/grandfathers are fading into the history books.
GOOD RIDDANCE
:’) What did they have before he built the network?
Meanwhile in Washington DC, America is divided among the Chicago thugs;
Then there is a sort of hybrid system. Pre chavez Venezuela and the Philippines are ostensibly democracies but in practice are oligarchies. There were definitely super rich who controlled the countries from their enclaves like Forbes park in Manila.
There are degrees of oligarchy. The measure of the degree is the extent to which the oligarchy can impose rules and laws on the rest of the society which the oligarchy is exempt from following. When, for example, you have to get permission or a license from an official to open a business, and the probability of getting the license depends on whether you know somebody who can grease the wheels for you, then to that degree you live in an oligarchy.
