If ever you needed further proof of the "person of color" America really needs in charge right now, I urge you to watch this fabulous YouTube footage of the magnificent Condoleezza Rice being ambushed by left-liberal students at Stanford University with a series of "difficult" questions about torture, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay and US foreign policy under George W Bush. (Hat tip: Andrew Hamilton.)
Her coolness under fire is magnificent, but more impressive still is her refusal to duck the issues. "Sorry we have to leave", an official can be heard saying off camera, but Condi isn't going to take the easy way out: she wants to stand up for her principles and put the pantywaists in their place.
"Let me tell you something: unless you were there in a position of responsibility after September 11 you cannot possibly imagine the dilemmas that we faced in trying to protect Americans," she says.
"Maybe before you make allegations about Guantanamo, you should READ," says Condi, with exquisitely measured .
Condi, you are a star and if America won't have you as our next president, please will you come over and be our next Queen instead?

a person of substance. she was truthful. todays politicians skirt everything and do the ‘blah, blah blah’ talking around the points.
“Descending Colon [LOVE IT!!] Powell would have said in the same situation.”
DColon would have bowed first, and begged for forgiveness!
I admire Ms. Rice for many reasons, but I think of her as the female Colin Powell. I do not believe she is a true conservative.
NY Post - February 26, 2007
WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gushed yesterday that Sen. Barack Obama is an “extraordinary person” and said it won’t be long before the nation gets its first black president.
Sounding like she had come down with a severe case of Obama-mania, Rice affectionately referred to the Democratic senator - a Foreign Relations Committee member - as a member of “my committee,” since she frequently testifies there.
“I think he’s very appealing and a great person,” she enthused. “He’s on my committee. And we’ve always had good exchanges. I think he’s an extraordinary person.”
Rice - who has repeatedly denied having an interest in running for president herself - said barriers to blacks have been disappearing one by one, and that the door to the White House may soon swing open.
I dont need another job in government with anybody, she said. Look, Im a Republican, all right? Sen. McCain is a fine patriot, and he would be a great president. But theres something to be said for fresh blood. And I know that there are a lot of very good people who could be his vice president.
During the interview in a regal room at the State Department appointed with chandeliers, rich carpets and cases of porcelain, Rice was asked: Would you feel safe with a President Obama?
Oh, the United States will be fine, she responded. I think that we are having an important debate about how we keep the country safe. I think we are having an important debate about our responsibilities, our obligations, our interests in the Middle East in the wake of the now increasing evidence of success in Iraq. Those are important judgments for the American people to make.
WASHINGTON — An emotional Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reveled Wednesday in Barack Obama’s election, calling it an “extraordinary step forward” for the nation...Rice called the Democratic president-elect “inspirational” and said his victory was proof of America’s promise.
“This was an exercise in American democracy of which Americans across the political spectrum are justifiably proud,” she said.
“As an African-American, I’m especially proud,” said Rice, her eyes glistening with emotion, “because this is a country that’s been through a long journey, in terms of overcoming wounds and making race” less of a factor in life. “That work is not done, but yesterday was obviously an extraordinary step forward.”
“One of the great things about representing this country is that it continues to surprise,” she told reporters at the State Department at a hastily arranged briefing just hours before leaving Washington for the Middle East on a peacemaking trip. “It continues to renew itself. It continues to beat all odds and expectations.”
I believe she has some conservative tendencies, but they don’t run deep. And for her, Black trumps Conservative. Colin Powell in a dress.
Sorry. She preferred Obama.
Powell's conduct and comments were reprehensible. When it comes down to it, Powell and probably Rice put color above country. I can only hope they both live to regret it as such.
You answered your own question.
Ah, but Condi had exposure to that already. She would have handled it expertly.
I think many ultra-conservatives would have resisted her though on soft abortion views, and Israel.
Oh, Walter Williams, Jesse Lee Peterson. There are quite a few.
Condi is a wonderful, strong woman. I wish we saw more of her.
BFL
Perhaps, but it seems like those most prominent in government are not trustworthy to vote or support party, philosophy and country above color. I find this not only distressing, but telling.
They get beat up, no doubt about it.
I would not want to be a “minority” (who is really a minority in the USA, really?) and be asked the circular “when did you stop beating your wife” type of questions all of the time.
And, lets be honest, those that go into politics today do it for power. They aren’t there to serve society, their constituents. How many of them have recently said they don’t answer to us: Specter, McCain, and one gal I didn’t know when pressured on Fox about pursuing investigations into CIA tactics when the majority of Americans don’t want... it is my duty, my constituents just don’t know better.
Politics is a business now, no longer people willing to SERVE their constituents.
Condi sold out the North Korean people, ditto for the people of Iran, she was nothing more than Colin Powell in drag, minus 100 pounds, and minus the military experience.
She gets no kudos from me.
Condi Palin ticket for 2012?
