the local and regional banks around here have been hanging on quite well. Of course, they never got into the sub-prime mess.

I am of the opinion that when the recovery takes place it will be in spite of Obama’s programs, not because of them.

And, I am also of the opinion that the Administration will do all they can to keep the economy hurting as long as possible. They need it looking bad to justify their power grabs.

Government is squeezing private sector slowly out of business and yes, that does keep the economy in the crapper. Private sector wage increase for the last quarter? .02%. How about government? .08%. So if you are in the private sector, your wages cannot keep up with inflation.

Something tells me that the economy will look good until the 2010 elections, then it will go in the tank again after the Democrats have gained more House and Senate seats.

They will then use the 2010 election to go for an even bigger power grab and force us into unabashed socialism.

You know, I find it kind of convenient that our troops will be getting out of Iraq right before the 2010 elections.

I think it likely our economy will permanently “reset” to a lower productivity level, similar to Europe.

This will make the current leaders happy. Welfare dependent, unhappy, unemployed voters will keep voting for more “change”, out of fear and ignorance.
